Monday 27 September

Arrive Casablanca airport. Train from airport to Casa Voyageurs Station right next door to Ibis Moussafir Hotel (3-star).

Evening Moroccan meal at Al Mounia or similar (drinks at own cost).

Tuesday 28 September

Leave Casablanca via sea coast to stop off at enormous seaside mosque (Hassan II) near centre of downtown Casa. Drive to Marrakech (about 3 hours plus stops).

Accommodation for 2 nights at 4-star Hotel Tichka. 

Evening meal at Yacout or similar – sumptuous banquet in luxurious surroundings

Wednesday 29 September

Wander the central square and medina at leisure.

Evening meal (own cost) – suggest “street food” at one of the many stalls in the huge square.

Thursday 30 September

Travel across the Atlas Mountains to Ait Benhaddou (can take 3½ - 5 hours depending on conditions). You will recognise the village from a number of famous films – wander through the streets during late afternoon.

Basic but comfortable hotel accommodation and simple evening meal (drinks own cost) at La Kasbah (2-star).

Friday 1 October

Drive to Erfoud via lunchstop (own cost) at Todra Gorge – travelling time approximately 5 hours.

Accommodation at 4-star El Ati Hotel – evening meal included (drinks own cost).

Early night in preparation for Sahara sunrise breakfast in morning.

Saturday 2 October

Very early start to Sahara’s edge. Afternoon at leisure back at Erfoud’s El Ati Hotel.

Evening meal – own arrangements.

Sunday 3 October

Drive to Fes (approx 5½ hours) through Ziz Gorge.

Ibis Moussafir Hotel (3-star).

Evening meal at La Maison Bleue or similar – sumptuous Moroccan banquet with wine.

Monday 4 October

Wander the World Heritage medina of central Fes (guide included – essential).

Dinner – own arrangements.

Tuesday 5 October

Drive via Meknes to Volubilis (1½ - 2 hours).

Spend afternoon wandering Roman ruins (own cost).

Accommodation and dinner (drinks own cost) at 4-star Hotel Volubilis which overlooks the ruins.

Wednesday 6 October

Drive to Casablanca and Ibis Moussafir Hotel.

Farewell dinner at Al Mounia or similar (drinks own cost).

Thursday 7 October

Train from the adjacent station to airport.

Connect with flights to Paris or to London.

Tour Cost:

Per person on twin share or double basis: NZ$4,495 (GST not applicable). A single supplement applies (if you prefer an individual room).

The organiser reserves the right to change any details in this outline, should this prove necessary.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS MOROCCAN MEANDERING.

Prices:

Once a booking has been confirmed prices won’t be subject to any surcharges other than in the event of currency fluctuations, in which case we reserve the right to add a surcharge.

Deposit and Balance:

Your booking will be secured by completing a booking form and sending a deposit of NZ$1000 for each person taking the tour. The balance is due 60 days prior to travel. If you book less than 60 days before departure, full payment must be made when booking. Deposits aren’t refundable unless a substitute is found and a new booking form completed. Cancellation:

If you cancel your booking after you’ve paid in full, and more than five weeks before your tour departure, a refund of 50% of the tour cost will be made. If you cancel less than five weeks before tour departure - sorry - but we can’t give you a refund. We strongly advise you to take out insurance against irrecoverable cancellation costs (see below).

We won’t cancel your tour unless we are forced to do so by unusual or unforeseeable circumstances such as civil unrest or major strikes, or because the minimum number of bookings needed to operate the tour hasn’t been reached. In the latter case we’ll advise you of the cancellation no later than six weeks before the planned departure date.

Several options then become available:

• you’ll be offered the opportunity to proceed with the tour after paying a surcharge; or
• we’ll offer you an alternative tour, where possible; or if this isn’t acceptable to you 
• we’ll refund all payments made to us in respect of the tour cost.

Insurance:

It’s essential that you have adequate insurance cover for any medical or baggage expenses We can offer favourable rates for travel insurance (for New Zealand residents only at this stage) and can provide individually tailored or business policies if required, including a multiple journey policy. 

Cancellation Insurance:

An additional NZ$150 included with your booking will provide cover through Mike Henry Insurance should you be forced to cancel your trip. This $150 is subtracted from the total insurance fee payable prior to travel.
